La especie, precisamente por estar muy bien definida en la foto me atrevería a decir que es Boletus luteocupreus

¿Cuales serían las principales diferencias entre ellos?

Ambos pertenecen a la sección Luridi, es decir, grosso modo boletos de poros rojos, que si se manipulan en casi cualquier zona se vuelven azules.
Fundamentalmente el tamaño, el pie rechoncho, el retículo del pie tan fino y redondeado rojo sobre amarillo, el tipo de azuleamiento, etc. llevan a pensar en luteocupreus http://www.funghiitaliani.it/?showtopic=16801. (http://www.funghiitaliani.it/?showtopic=16801.)
luridus es muy variable, de hecho probablemente se separe en varias especies, pero no suelen ser grandes boletos y suele tener el retículo menos perfecto, más alargado y a veces en relieve: http://www.funghiitaliani.it/?showtopic=15037 (http://www.funghiitaliani.it/?showtopic=15037)
